What’s up everyone?! So this will be a new series that I’m starting in which I start to chronical my lessons and study sessions. This is more for me to keep a tracker of what I’m doing so I can know how far I’ve progressed.
Language Snapshot – Japanese Study Session #1
So I’ve been studying Japanese for quite some time, but I haven’t reached the fluency level that I wanted yet.
This is likely due to my recent failure of time management. So to combat this, I’ve started a new study plan where I switch it up my practice style every day so that I can get good enough so that I can simultaneously switch from English to Japanese. I’ll eventually add Korean and possibly Spanish to the mix, but I want to focus on Japanese at the moment.
I feel this is extremely possible for me as I am currently a native English speaker and according to my apps, I’m getting exceptionally close to basic level fluency. I still have a ways to go, but fortunately this motivates me to keep going.
In the past, I studied in the classroom for both Spanish and Japanese. However, with Spanish I fell off and forgot most of it and with Japanese, the classroom learning
(specifically for the hiragana, katakana, and kanji) just wasn’t clicking for whatever reason.
This was weird to me as I was grasping things well in the classroom for Spanish, but for Japanese, I’ve learned more in the apps and being self-taught in recent years.
However, the training and learning that I got from my previous Sensei’s actually gave me the initial knowledge and training that allowed me to maximize what I am learning in the apps so in essence I am exceptionally appreciative of both my sensei’s that I had while living in Japan and the UK.
Additionally, Korean seems similar to Japanese so that’s starting to click for me as well. So expect me to write more in Korean also once I actually learn the language.
Language Snapshot – Multilingual Journal entry
So as I begin these entries, I am well aware that they may not be correct so please bear with me. I will do my best to write separate paragraphs which are supposed to be translatable between the languages.
I know that it will likely suck early on, but the more I do it, the more I will improve!
