This is quite possibly one of my favorite Weezy songs of all-time! Grindin by Lil Wayne Ft Drake is one of those tracks that definitely speaks to the soul of a true hustler.
If you are a die-hard Weezy fan, then you definitely remember when this track dropped as both Wayne and Drake dropped some major gems in this one.
Music Snapshot – Rap Throwback: Grindin By Lil Wayne Ft. Drake
In the chorus, Lil Wayne proclaims:
“Nigga I’m grindin’ for all my sh*t
Yeah, I’m grindin’ for all my sh*t
Man, I’m grindin’ for all my sh*t
Perfect timing with all my sh*t
Right here, Lil Wayne is telling us that no matter how many riches he has or chains or diamonds or whatever it is that you see that you admire him for… he had to grind to make all of this happen.
He saying that it’s perfect timing with his success because he grinded to make it that way.
In just the chorus alone, Lil Wayne is emphasizing the necessity of hard work and how without it, none of us can reap the benefits or achieve the success that we want.
Aside from that, the major gem that Drake dropped for us was in the first line of his verse in which he proclaims:
“Yeah I got a new vision for all my sh*t
I don’t know what to call that sh*t
I know, I’m selling all of my cars
I’m selling diamonds and all of that sh*t
Realized I don’t need that sh*t
I’m a different breed with this sh*t
I’m tryna turn M’s to B’s in this b*tch
And I ain’t ever pay to be with no b*tch”
Now right here, Drake drops an amazing gem to complement the message that Wayne is giving. Here Drake is saying he has a new vision and it’s so great that he doesn’t even know what to call it.
His new vision is so good that he realizes that a lot of his material possessions don’t really matter and he may sell them just to finance his new vision so he can turn his millions to billions.
He’s also telling us that due to his vision and success, that’s how he attracts women into his life and he never has to pay them for company because his vibes attract them.
Now this is a powerful message to all listeners to this song because we have to realize the value of the things and the people that we have in our lives.
If your dream really matters to you, you must be willing to give up some stuff or people in order to move to the next level.
With that being said, he’s showing that when you focus on your vision and not on the opposite sex, your energy and vibe attracts them to you whether you want it or not because your vision is your primary concern.
Now, aside from this track definitely being a hustler’s anthem, both Wayne and Drake killed this track in my personal opinion.
From the sound of the beat, to the bars that both MCs spit, this song is extremely smooth.
